“The colitis and pneumonia were side effects from all the meds,” Azoff said. “He died from complications of ulcer and colitis after being Glenn-Freytreated with drugs for his rheumatoid arthritis which he had for over 15 years.” – Eagles Band Manager

Glen Frey, an American music icon and co-founder of the legendary rock band, the Eagles died on January 18, 2016, at the young age of 67 in New York City. It has been reported that he had passed away after suffering from ongoing health problems like rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia, while recovering from gastrointestinal tract surgery.

Frey was the musical genius from California that gave us hit songs such as Hotel California,Take It Easy, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Tequila Sunrise, Already Gone, Lying Eyes, New Kid in Town and Heartache Tonight.

After Glenn Frey’s death this past week, Eagles manager, Irving Azoff said in an interview with The Wrap, “The colitis and pneumonia were side effects from all the meds. He died from complications of ulcer and colitis after being treated with drugs for his rheumatoid arthritis which he had for over 15 years.” (Source: Billboard Magazine)

“So did Glenn Frey die from the arthritis or could it have been the medications he was taking that may have caused him to have acute ulcerative colitis, pneumonia, and then the gastrointestinal tract surgery?”

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory disease that causes pain, swelling, stiffness, and loss of function in the joints. It occurs when the immune system, which normally defends the body from invading organisms, turns its attack against the membrane lining the joints.

It does not affect your stomach, intestines, and or colon. This is a medical fact.

Arthritis.org lists these side effects of the drugs used to treat rheumatoid arthritis;

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)- Edema (swelling of the feet) heartburn, stomach upset and stomach ulcers and possibly increased risk of blood clots, heart attack and stroke.

Cortiocosteroids – Cataracts, elevated blood fats and blood sugar levels, increased appetite and bone loss.

Disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs)- Stomach upset and increased susceptibility to infection. Other side effects vary by drug.

Biologic agents – Injection or infusion site reactions, including redness and swelling, and increased risk of serious infections. Other side effects vary by drug.

People need to understand that many of the drugs marketed to us and prescribed by doctors can have severe side effects that may even cause death. In the end, it is our free will choice to decide whether or not we should take these medications.

A decision that could mean life or death.

I will leave you with some lyrics from the song Hotel California that fit quite appropriately with this article….

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They livin’ it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
Bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said “We are all just prisoners here, of our own device”
And in the master’s chambers,
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can’t kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
“Relax, ” said the night man,
“We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave! ”
